The Air Jordan IV “Thunder” and Air Jordan IV “Lightning” remain some of the more limited of Air Jordan releases from the new millennium. Both went on sale in August of 2006, exclusively through Jumpman23.com. Both also had a pretty big price point thanks to the accompanying apparel, the “Thunder” going for $500 thanks to the jacket tossed in and the “Lightning” clocking in at $250 with its tie-in shirt. Michael Jordan announced yesterday that he’d requested a name change for the Charlotte Bobcats, a rebranding that would have them become the Charlotte Hornets once again as of the 2014-15 NBA season. Getting a head start on the campaign, there’s already a “Back the Buzz” movement going on out in Charlotte. Said movement has some complimentary Jordan Brand gear up for grabs, as ticket buyers can get their hands on the “Buzz City” jacket pictured here. Jordan Brand’s various signature sneakers didn’t really get a chance to participate in this year’s “Area 72″ theme. Shown here is what almost looks like an outtake from that set, a special version of the Jordan CP3.VI AE dressed up in some “Supernova” graphics. The shoe appears to be nearing the end of its life-cycle but maybe, just maybe, they’ll see a retail release in the future in this awesome colorway. Folks who were early on to the Michael Jordan craze might remember the Air Jordan Flight Club. That group was an exclusive fan club developed around the time of the Air Jordan IV, one that held some of the first exclusive MJ stuff via the goodies available in its mailings. Gathered here is an incredible original package that contains all the items sent out upon initial joining, including a membership card, a t-shirt, a letter from MJ, and more. People are still patiently waiting for the return of the Air Jordan XI “Columbia”. Whether or not that’s gonna happen anytime soon remains to be seen, but the custom scene of course has the power to eliminate that wait with their works. Crafting up a similar style is Noldo, who made this custom version of the Air Jordan XI that is one part “Columbia” and one part “Carolina”. It turns out the sneakers will come in a special box, one that wears that Westbrook slogan via an all over print-taking things much further than its singular appearance across the Air Jordan XX8 inside. It seems like the Air Jordan VI just might be doing the red suede thing as well. Shown here is the Air Jordan VI “Red Suede” sample, one that seems like an even more direct tribute to the “Raging Bull” look of old than that upcoming Air Jordan IV. Yet another unreleased version of the Air Jordan 1 “J2K” has popped up. This time it appears to be an outtake from last year’s retro release, sporting the same blacked out triangular base. The difference is that these go quite a bit blacker, getting rid of the extra bits of red tossed in via the laces, tongue tag, outsole, and “Wings” logo of the released version. Jay-Z is one of the rappers out there that’s actually old enough to remember when the Air Jordan VIII “Bugs” first came around. Granted, we can’t really comment on how into sneakers he was at the time so who knows if he ever laced up an OG pair.
